English: The pinkish-colored chunks in this concrete are pieces of quartzite. The gravel comes from a Precambrian-aged unit called the Sioux Quartzite. Good outcrops occur at Falls Park along the Big Sioux River in the town of Sioux Falls, southeastern South Dakota. Quartzite quarries occur in that town and elsewhere, including southwestern Minnesota.
