Title
Cruciform
Description
English: Head and bow of cruciform brooch. The head is covered in copper-alloy corrosion on the front which appears to preserve some fine textile fragments. Consequently no decoration can be seen on the raised central panel or the wings. Both side knobs are missing but the top knob survives; it is half-round and has a waist across the middle. On the reverse is a substantial mass of iron corrosion obscuring the pin bar lug(s). The bow has a flat panel at the top which has rounded edges and seems fairly worn. No decoration can be seen on this. About half of the bow survives, worn thin so that an irregular hole has appeared in the centre; the break across this hole is however fresh. Surviving length 46 mm, surviving width 28 mm.
