Crozant (Creuse). Les ruines du château médiéval dominent la vallée de la Creuse. La situation de ce promontoire entre la Creuse et la Sédelle, en fait un lieu de défense stratégique depuis la préhistoire. Philippe Auguste, en 1214, considérait déjà le "Crusanum Castrum" comme une forteresse de frontière hautement stratégique*. Au 19 ème siècle, George Sand amènera dans la région de nombreux peintres, dont Monet, qui formeront ce qu'on appellera "l'école de Crozant".
The ruins of the medieval castle overlooking the valley of the Creuse. This promontory between the river Creuse and Sédelle river is a strategic place since prehistoric times. Philippe Auguste, in 1214, already considered the "Crusanum Castrum" as a highly strategic border fortress *.
