Description |
500px provided description: This masterpiece sculpture was captured as a 4 frame vertorama @70mm rather than with a wide angle lens so that the beautiful features breathed into it by Benvenuto Cellini can be better seen, so zoom into it and look. Cellini's "Perseus with the head of Medusa" at the Piazza della Signoria in Florence, Italy, is considered his crowning work. While known as a violent and tortured soul, his work, especially gold and bronze sculpture is exquisite. This sculpture was created in 1545 for the Duke Cosimo I de? Medici. Cellini cast it as a single piece of bronze because he was competing with Michelangelo?s David, Bandinelli?s Hercules and Cacus, and Donatello?s Judith and Holofernes, which were already erected in the piazza.
