Description
English: A complete but broken medieval copper-alloy gilded cross shaped mount, dating to c. AD 1150 - 1350. The mount is rectangular plate with two projecting rectangular lugs projecting from its longer sides. The mount has three circular rivet holes, one inside each lug and one in the centre. One of the lugs has broken off. The central plate It is decorated with two incised six armed crosses, possibly with elaborate ends, there a pellet in each segment of the cross, both of which are located on the large central rectangle. The front retains some gilding. The rear is undecorated. The mount is highly worn and corroded.

A similar mount can be seen on the database under NLM-4D0A46. This is similar to Limoges enamelled mounts which are thought to have been used on church crosses.
