Title
Cross fragment
Description
English: Three cast copper-alloy fragments in the form of the limbs of an ornate cross with a suspension loop at the top. The decoration consists of a series of small leaves on the horizontal arms, with four such leaves meeting in a cross shape at the central point. A small rivet lies in the centre of the four leaves, with another one leaf in from the outer end of the right-hand limb, and there is an empty hole in a similar position on the left. A series of half-circles run around the outer edges of the cross, giving a scalloped design. The area below the suspension loop is stepped , and below the steps a plaque with "NR". A single leaf is visible at the bottom of the vertical limb. There are no traces of gilding or silvering remaining. Measurements of fragment consisting of the vertical and right-hand limb: 38 mm x 52 mm approx., 2 mm thick.
