Description

Tetschen in German. 20 dual voltage locomotives were ordered by DR from Skoda for cross border trains between Germany and Czechoslovakia and were delivered in 1991 as Class 230. With unification of the railways, they became class 180 of Deutsche Bahn. The Czech system here was electricied at 3kV DC, whilst the usual German system of 15kV AC 16.66 Hz is used north of the border.

DBAG had just been formed from DB and DR, but the livery had not yet been changed.
