Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Cross Roads Mooring Buoy, Carrick Roads The main geographical feature of this square is Cross Roads Buoy, used by Falmouth Harbour Commissioners and A&P Shipbuilders to accommodate large ships when their wharves are full.

This buoy is moored to the seabed nearly 30m below by three massive anchors and provides a secure mooring for the largest freighters and cruise liners which may have too deep a draught for the harbour.

In the left background is the red St Just lateral buoy marking a left turn in the deep water channel.
