| Description |
English: The Cronin Building at 80-88 State Street between Bank Street and Eugene O'Neill Drive in New London, Connecticut, was built in 1892 on the site of the former City Hotel, which has hosted Andrew Jackson and Abraham Lincoln, and had burned down in 1891. It was designed by George Warren Cole of Shepley, Rutan and Coolidge, the successor firm to H. H. Richardson, in the Richardsonian Romanesque style. Cole temporarily relocated to New London to supervise the construction of the New London Public Library, the Williams Memorial Institute (now a Connecticut State Courthouse), and the Nathan Hale Grammar School (no longer extant). The Cronin Building is located in the Downtown New London Historic District.
