$10,000 was offered for the arrest of theperpetrators, and three have been caughtftnd have paid the penalty of the crime withtheir lives. About one-half of the money-has been recovered. After leaving this station, we pass by aseries of cuts and fills, and another rangeof bluffs, cut up by narrow ravines andgorges. At points, the roads run so nearthe river bank, that the water seems to beright under the cars. But we emergeagain, after 7 8-10 miles, and come to fiarton—a small signal station of verylittle importance. Passing on a short dis-tance we can see the old town of Julesburg,on the south side of the river. The townw^as named after Jules Burg, who wasbrutally assassinated, as will be related inAnnex Ko. 10. From Barton, it is 8 7-10 miles to thestation of Jnlesborg—Elevation 3,394 feet; dis-tance from Omaha, 377 miles.
