, were removed toNorth Platte and Sid-ney, on the Union Pa-cific railroad, 291 and412 miles, respective-ly, west from Omaha,and the post abandon-ed. The remains of thedead bodies of soldiers,buried at Kearny, weretaken up and re-inter-ed in the NationalCemetery, at Fort Mc-Pherson. Two miles above thefort, on the south bank,is Kearny City, in theearly days more com-monly called DobeyTown. This was oncea great point with theold Overland StageCompany, and at thattime contained about500 inhabitants, thegreater portion ofwhich left upon theabandonment of theline and the south-sideroute of travel. Butwe are told settlers are coming in, and itwill soon regain its old time figures. Returning to Kearny Junction, 5 9-10miles brings us to ISteveiison—a side-track—unimpor-tant.
