Hand-written on verso: Bayonne [ROUEN] Steel ship 2589 tons French The Bayonne was built in 1901, in St. Nazaire, by Atelier & Chantiers. She was owned by Soc. Anon. Des Voiliers Normands (Soc. Bayonnaise De Navigation) of Rouen, France. She was stopped and scuttled, without casualities, by a German U-Boat (U-84) on February 17, 1917, en route to New York from Ipswich. |
