Description

Crest of Sir Richard Wallace, 1st Baronet (1818-1890), armorial binding. Arms of w:Sir Richard Wallace, 1st Baronet (1818-1890): Gules, on a pile between two ostrich heads erased argent each holding a horseshoe in the beak or a lion rampant of the field; Crest: In front of fern vert an ostrich's head erased argent holding in the beak a horseshoe or (Burke, Sir Bernard, The General Armory, London, 1884, p.1067, "Wallace of Sudbourne Hall, Suffolk, baronets"). Granted 25 August 1871 by Woods (Garter) and Laurie (Clarenceaux, Kings of Arms), to "Sir Richard Wallace, 1st Baronet, of Sudbourne Hall, Suffolk and Hertford House, Manchester Square, Marylebone, London". Stamp 1 (Dimensions: 31mm x 23mm) as used on the cover of the following surviving books from his library:
