Title
Crescy arms
Description
English: The bottom half of a copper alloy, vesica-shaped (pointed oval) seal matrix. Device of the lower half of a female figure. She wears a long gown that reaches her feet; only the toes of her pointed shoes are visible. Over this she wears a second gown of mid-calf length, on which the remains of a split-tailed heraldic lion rampant are visible (head missing). Over all this she wears a floor-length cloak with an uneven interior surface. Her arms are not visible. The space between the figure and the line outlining the central area is filled by elegant scrolls growing from the line mentioned, two on each side of the figure, each terminating in a five-petalled flower. The device is separated from the legend by a beaded line, and a similar line marks the outer edge of the matrix. Measurements: 31 mm x 29 mm (estimated from impression).
