Summary
[edit]DescriptionCoyote in the Air at Full Run Making Eye Contact (49028652833).jpg |
This coyote was walking on a trail when a bicycle came through going very fast. As shown in the photo, the coyote went to the creek at a full run. Even though the coyote was running from a threat it made eye contact with me and seemed to have confidence and inner calm, as well as full awareness of everything around it. This impression of confidence was probably a factor inspiring the stories about coyotes in native American folklore. Some stories had the coyote as wise and cunning. However, other stories had a coyote with excessive confidence that resulted in trouble and failure and were lessons for humans. In other stories the coyote was a trickster that brought disruption and humility to humans.
