[edit]DescriptionCox's Bazaar Refugee Camp (8539828824) (cropped).jpg |
English: Baroness Warsi, became the first British Minister to visit Kutupalong Refugee Camp in Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh. The camp is one of three, which house up to 300,000 Rohingya Muslims fleeing inter-communal violence in Burma. DFID provides core contributions to agencies that directly support the Rohingya community. Baroness Warsi met with the UNHCR, international NGOs, Rohingya community leaders and the refugees themselves. She witnessed first-hand the seriousness of the humanitarian situation and resilience of the affected communities. She acknowledged the long term support the Government of Bangladesh has provided and emphasised the importance of allowing aid to continue reaching the Rohingya people. She also called on the Burmese Government to find a long-term solution to problem. |
