Description
English: Diversion signs and other notices in Baring Road Cowes, Isle of Wight, at the junction with Ward Avenue. During the period of Cowes Week (when this photo was taken), this section of Baring Road down to Castle Hill becomes one way eastbound, the parallel road lower down becoming one way westbound from Castle Hill to Egypt Hill. There is no access to Cowes Parade from this end of the town. In previous years, "road closed" signs have been put up here, but in 2009 they seemed to let people drive down there if they wanted to. Unfortunately, the traffic measures implemented to avoid traffic conflicting each other are frequently abused, as demonstrated by this idiot coming towards the camera in this photo, driving the wrong way along the one way section.
