Description

Although the large airport at Birmingham is the main airport serving the Midlands of England, this one at Coventry also plays it's part.

It hosts a flight training base and facilities for executive aircraft, offering easy access and lower fees than it's big neighbour.

This airport has been in use since 1936 and was taken over by the RAF during World War Two.

When I took this photo the airport was the home of two air museums. The second museum - nearer the camera - closed in 2012 as a result of airport development. In my photo both museums are on the left of the runway and I can see a Shackleton, Nimrod, Britannia, Electra, Argosy, Vulcan, Dakota, and several others.

The airport has also featured in at least one film and a tv series.
