Coutures (Maine-et-Loire) Château de Montsabert. Le château est composé de trois corps de bâtiments, avec deux tours dont l'une remonte au 14e siècle. Le grand corps de logis est couronné d'un mâchicoulis avec échauguettes aux angles. L'ensemble présente de beaux détails sculptés de toutes époques. Le château prendra una aspect Renaissance avec la construction de la loggia, la surélévation des murs intérieurs de la cour et la fausse balustrade. Fin 17ème siècle, les fenêtres ont été agrandies, l'orangerie et la chapelle construites. Le rempart sud a été rasé pour laisser place à une terrasse avec jardins à la française.
Du Guesclin* devient possesseur de Montsabert, par son mariage, en deuxièmes noces, avec Jeanne de Laval* en 1374*. Il transforme le château en forteresse dotée d'une double enceinte. Cette forteresse construite pour contenir le parti anglais ne servit jamais. A la mort de du Guesclin, le fief de Montsabert revint dans la famille de Laval*. En 1575, le château passa dans la famille d'Aubigné qui fit transformer le château et édifier la chapelle. Par la suite, le château sera vendu à la famille Le Maistre, puis par mariage il passera à la famille Goislard. Le château fut restauré par l'architecte René Hodé* dans la seconde moitié du XIXe siècle. Au XXe siècle, durant plus d'une trentaine d'année,le château fut un centre de colonie de vacances pour les enfants âgés de 3 à 10 ans de l'usine Francolor.

Duguesclin will Montsabert possessor, due to his marriage to Jeanne de Laval, in 1374. The castle was restored by the architect René Hodé the 19th century. In the 20th century, the castle became a summer camp for young children. |
