(38.1 cm x 25.72 cm) Publisher: Yamadaya Shobei Credit Line: Bequest of Mrs. Cora Timken Burnett Label Copy: "The Ryogoku Bridge, which marked the bustling center of downtown Tokyo, had been a popular subject in prints from the late eighteenth to mid-nineteenth century. In this wistful presentation the pleasure boats stand empty, and two sole figures look away from the viewer towards the faint depiction of the bridge. A rickshaw at the left indicates the new, foreign way to travel in the city."
