The second theme is based on the recognition that, althoughcareer doors are opening more widely to black persons, manyof the old intercultural barriers to satisfaction and fulfillment inthese careers still persist, while new barriers are perhaps formingas well. The future black professional person can greatly benefitby the study of these intercultural problems as a meaningful sup-plement to the study of the subject matter area of the profession. The major will lead to a B.A. degree and may be completed infour or five years. Courses taken in the Department of Afro-Ameri-can Studies will be credited toward degree requirements for allLiberal Arts students.
