"Bort med hämningarna!" är en missförstådd paroll. Många tror att hämningar är det samma som behärskning och att ett upphävande av hämningarna skulle resultera i barbari. Men hämningar är i själva verket motsatsen till behärskning, och när psykoterapeuterna av olika riktningar vill hjälpa oss att bli av med hämningarna så är det för att vi ska få mera kontroll över oss själva, inte mindre. Sätten att komma dit är många – ett är att spela teater. Därför är teater med all rätt ett skolämne i Förenta staterna. Och vi har nog inte så långt dit här hemma heller.
