Summary
[edit]DescriptionCouple married on radio 1923.jpg |
English: Margaret Girstner and Joseph Woorm of Brooklyn, whose marriage at the American Radio Exposition in New York in 1922 was broadcast over the New York station WEAF. Rev. B. F. Saxon, left, officiated. It was estimated that over half of the radio audience within range listened in, along with the bride's family, who could not be present. Radio broadcasting only began in 1920, setting off a "radio craze" during the early Roaring 20s which included stunts like this. Exhibitors at the Exposition gave the couple a receiver, bottom, as a wedding present. |
