Only through cor-recting the inconveniences of the farmhouse, using laborsaving machinery, and instituting a better system of householdmanagement, can the country housewife further the higherinterests of her family, and promote that idealism which char-acterizes true home-making. The majority of farmhouses are poorly planned. The wholegeneral plan of the house in many cases is faulty, and thefurniture is poorly selected and arranged.
