Description
English: The map shows composite corruption score based on survey in 20 major states of India. The data is from the work of Nicholas Charron, University of Gothenburg Sweden. It uses the 2005 Transparency International survey where every respondent’s experiences and perceptions of corruption in the 11 different public service areas were weighted to reach a corruption composite index for each surveyed state. The reviewed service areas included corruption in income tax, municipal services, police, land administration, judiciary, schools, water supply, ration cards, electricity, hospitals and others.

Jammu & Kashmir and Bihar were found, in 2005, to have the highest perceived corruption. Kerala and Himachal Pradesh were found to have the lowest corruption perceptions scores.
