Description
English: Coronation Clock Tower The first part of this small shopping centre was built to commemorate the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II in 1953, The site it occupies had been a housing estate called Shottstown. This had been provided for the employees of the Shotts Iron Company, which mined iron stone and coal until the pit closed after a disastrous fire in 1889.
