Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Coracles at Wildlife Centre This ancient type of river craft, constructed of withies and tarred cloth or hide, has long been used on the Afon Teifi, more often than not for the purpose of catching sea trout, locally called sewin, which come up the river to spawn. (Since the fishing rights were mostly appropriated by the gentry, this activity was known as poaching.) Coracles can still be seen on the river nowadays, but mostly to catch the tourist trade.
