Title
Copy of a nummus of Dalmatius
Description
English: An incomplete post-Medieval cast copper alloy spherical animal 'crotal' bell (AD 1600-1800).

The sub-rectangular suspension loop at the top is about 8.69mm long, 11.18mm wide and 4.26mm thick and has a sub-rectangular aperture. The upper and lower hemispheres are divided by a prominent horizontal circumferential joining rib. At either side of the suspension loop, about half way down the side of the upper hemisphere, there is a circular sound hole. One is much larger than the other. Two large sound holes in the lower hemisphere are integral with a sound "slit". Both hemispheres are plain.
The iron 'sound-pea' is large and irregular in form.
The outer surface of the bell is very worn and drab brown with flecks of a green patina.

Height: 35.28mm; diameter: 26.82mm. Weight: 17.95g.
