Coprinellus disseminatus (Pers.) J.E. Lange Image location: State Forest near Comboyne, New South Wales, Australia This group of Fungi was the most pleasant surprise for me this day. In my opinion it is absolutely beautiful. The beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I will load four images for viewing and identification. I cant find once again any Australian reference to these magic fungi. The fact that they are so small they may have been overlooked, or treated as unimportant. It is when the fungi is magnified that the true beauty unfolds. Results like this make the long walks, mosquitoes, leeches & high humidty insignificant, to just look on these incredible creations. The caos were about and no more than 5mm. The average size overall was probably about the same. Colour is as close to white balace as is possible. I am not sure about the little black fungi but maybe they are dead mans fingers.(Xylaria polymorpha)?? Recognized by sight: Very easy to recognize because of the pileicystidia and caulocystidia – well visible in the photos.
