coppermedievalfigurine |
||
Description |
English: Copper alloy cast figurine, dating to the medieval to post medieval period (c AD1300-1700). The object is generally sub oval in plan depicting a standing figure, possibly St John. The head of the figurine is slightly raised and has a lobe moulding on the top. The figure is robed with a raised collar around the neck and a raised 'belt' around the waist of the figure. The left arm is raised and appears to be holding an object against the chest. The left arm is incomplete but appears to bend behind the back of the figure. The base of the figure is rounded and flattened and may have attached to a mount or fixture. The object is not in good condition and most of the details and features are worn away.
The measurements for the object are not known and it is unknown whether the object is solid or hollow. Therefore it is difficult to assign a more specific date. See records ESS-CE7F01 and CAMHER-ACC563 for comparison. |
