Title
Copper alloy fragment of a dragonesque brooch
Description
English: Cast copper alloy Roman dragonesque brooch.

Just over half remains, the body and one head. When complete it would have formed an S-shape. It is slightly domed on the front and flat on the reverse.

The head has a rounded protrusion at the terminal which represents the snout. The eyes and ear are in the raised rounded protrusion on the top of the head. The neck is narrow and curves around to meet the body. The body is a pointed oval in shape and is split into three panels with recesses for enamel. The enamel is very degraded so the colours are not clear but they could have been white/blue and orange. The other head would have been at the opposite end of the body to form a symmetrical shape.
