Title
Copper alloy book clasp 16th – 18th century AD.
Description
English: Copper alloy clasp 16th - 18th century AD. The clasp has a rectangular body of sheet metal with a small hooked tab at one end. There is a rivet hole in the centre near the tab end. The body is undecorated and could be a clog fastener although book-clasps bearing similar decorative motifs (punched ring and dot, the incised 'pheons') can be found illustrated in Crummy (1998, 68; e.g. ref. 2993). These examples are given a 17th-century date. Similar on the database to LIN-2DD746 and SUR-2093D4

The length is 35mm and the width 17mm.
