Copper alloy Roman trumpet brooch
Description
English: A fragment of a Roman trumpet brooch. The fragment consists of the trumpet head, upper bow and acanthus leaf moulding, with circumferential moulding above. The stump of a head loop is visible on the head of the brooch. On the reverse, hidden behind the trumpet head, there is a tubular arrangement encasing an axis bar, with an opening to accommodate the pin. There is an unusual arrangement for a trumpet brooch. The fragment measures 25mm in length; the head has a width of 12mm.
