Title
Copper alloy Roman brooch
Description
English: Incomplete cast copper alloy Tutulus brooch. The brooch has a circular plate, 22mm in diameter, that has a raised outer rim and a conical boss in the centre. There are no perimeter lugs. The field between the rim and the central boss there is a decorative band of what looks to be very worn incised hash marks. In the centre of the plate there is an integral conical boss, which has four steps to it. The first step is decorated with a band of hatching, whereas the rest of the steps are undecorated. The conical boss is hollow on the reverse, and there is an integral catchplate and double lug for a hinged pin either side of it. The pin is missing.
