Title
Copper-alloy Incomplete Spectacle Buckle
Description
English: An incomplete copper-alloy buckle of Medieval to Post-Medieval date, c.1350-c.1650. The buckle is of a plain double oval looped frame type, also referred to as a spectacle buckle. The frame has a 'D' shaped cross section. Approximately half of one loop is missing as is the pin. Weight is 3.28g, incomplete length is 28.74mm, width is 24.00mm, thickness is 2.82mm. Dating for this type of buckle seems to be predominately c.1350-1450 but can stretch later. See Egan, G. & Pritchard, F. 2002, p.50-87.
