Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Cooks Elevator Yaxley. The significance of this worn out piece of farm machinery is that it was made in a factory about half a mile to the west of this point. Cooks elevators were a popular farm labour saving device for handling sacks of corn, bags of potatoes and hay and straw bales. Physical effort was still required to load and unload them. Cooks also made the "flat eight" bale accumulator and other forage/fodder handling equipent before withdrawing from the agricultural machinery market. The factory inevitably is now a housing development.
