English: Convergence of the Tonle Sap and Mekong Rivers at Phnom Penh in 2008.
This river convergence is where the Cambodians celebrate the inversion of the current at Tole Sap. Bon Om Touk, the "Water Celebration", honours the fertility of the waters of Tonle Sap and Mekong, held every november. Thousands of Cambodians come to this place where feasts of "pirogies" are held. On the shores near this convergence are the Royal Palace, the location where the city was was founded and where an immense building was under construction in 2011, to be a luxury hotel. |
