Description
Español: Monumento histórico, conocido como “el Arco Chato de Santo Domingo”, actualmente son las ruinas del antiguo Convento de Santo Domingo. Fue construido en el año de 1678, cuando llegó a ser uno de los templos más suntuosos de la ciudad, hasta que fue destruido por el fuego en 1761. Su fachada muestra aún restos de sus dos cuerpos con columnas pareadas en el primero y pilastras en el segundo con tres ventanas rectangulares de iluminación al coro. Su vano de ingreso muestra una arcaizante solución manierista delimitando su acceso con pilastras y un arco de medio punto en el intradós del claro principal. En el interior de la antigua nave un edificio de tres plantas rompe la unidad del espacio al asentarse en parte de lo que antiguamente fue el crucero del templo.
