English: Convent of Our Lady of Orada, (Convento de Nossa Senhora da Orada) is a small chapel close to the Albufeira mariner, Albufeira, Algarve, Portugal. This small church was rebuilt in the 18th century following the collapse of the original building after the 1755 Lisbon earthquake.
The church was rebuilt principally to serve as a place of worship for local fishermen. A statue of the patron saint of Nossa Senhora da Orada was moved to the Parish Church of Albufeira years ago, but it is brought back to Nossa Sra da Orada every year on August 15th for a special religious ceromony. O Convento de Nossa Senhora da Orada (ou, simplesmente, Convento da Orada) é um antigo convento localizado no concelho de Albufeira, distrito de Faro, em Portugal. Nele se situa a Capela de Nossa Senhora da Orada (antigamente Ermida e, hoje em dia, intitulada pela Diocese do Algarve como reconhecido Santuário mariano).
Este convento, assim como a respectiva capela, foi construído num vale outrora deserto e foi sempre alvo particular da devoção de muitos pescadores locais que ofereciam inúmeros ex-votos a Nossa Senhora (os quais podem ser ainda encontrados na capela e testemunham os milagres ocorridos). No adro da capela do Convento de Nossa Senhora da Orada encontram-se dois túmulos: o de Frei Francisco António da Silva Cabrita, religioso da Ordem de São Bento de Avis, e o de Francisco Correia d'Ataíde Cabrita, importante figura da cidade que participou nas lutas constitucionais do século XIX. <a href="https://pt.wikipedia.org/wiki/Convento_de_Nossa_Senhora_da_Orada_%28Albufeira%29" rel="nofollow">pt.wikipedia.org/wiki/Convento_de_Nossa_Senhora_da_Orada_...</a>. |
