Summary
[edit]DescriptionContrast at Breaksea Point - geograph.org.uk - 1185535.jpg |
English: Contrast at Breaksea Point Out of sight, to the right, is the sea wall protecting the shore line and, more particularly, the power station behind it. The 'white' boulders have been deposited here by wave action during storms; in fact they are often thrown over the sea wall and I have seen quite large examples deposited up to 100 metres inside the perimeter fence during the worst of storms. These boulders are only covered at higher tides but the sand belt is almost always covered except on particularly low tides. The darker boulder ridges, rocks and rock pools can be seen at all low tides. Because of the high tidal range prevailing in the Bristol Channel great care has to be taken not to be cut off by an incoming tide when venturing out to the low water mark. |
