Kommentar: Flavius Constans war der jüngste von drei Söhnen des Constantinus I. und der Fausta, er wurde 320 oder 323 n. Chr. geboren. Am 25.12.333 n. Chr. erhielt er den Rang eines Caesar. Am 9.9.337 wurde er zusammen mit seinen beiden Brüdern einer der drei Augusti und war für Italien, Afrika, Illyricum und Macedonia zuständig. Nach dem Sieg über Constantinus II. konnte er seine Herrschaft auf den Westen des Reiches ausdehnen. 343 n. Chr. führte er seine Truppen zu seinem Feldzug nach Britannien. Als der Legionsbefehlshaber Magnentius sich in Autun (Augustudunum) zum Kaiser ausrufen ließ, wurde Constans im Januar 350 n. Chr. auf der Flucht in den Pyrenäen getötet.
