Summary
[edit]DescriptionConnolly pilot locomotive (geograph 3245811).jpg |
English: Connolly pilot locomotive A practice now vanished from Irish railways; from the days of steam virtually all large stations had a pilot locomotive used to shunt coaching stock to and from platforms. With passenger services on IÉ now either fixed formation push-pull or railcar, the pilot has gone with the locomotives mostly scrapped. 162, a 141 class built by General Motors in 1962, is about to haul NIR’s “Enterprise” coaching stock out of Platform 4. |
