Description The Congress Street Bridge, over the Fort Point Channel in Boston, is a former bascule-type drawbridge, viewed from the southwest, from the nearby Sumner Street Bridge. Its opening equipment was disabled and partially removed in the 1970s, and the bridge has been welded shut since then.
