Summary
[edit]DescriptionConfirmatory Bias?.jpg |
English: Saturday 9 May 2009. Two angles on Somerset Road N17. An almost clean street. Except that - as usual - someone had dumped stuff on the pavement by the litter bin outside the Green Primary School buildings.
I can only guess they think it's a legitimate collection point - not just for the bin, but any detritus and waste left nearby. _______________ This photo is part of an answer I gave to our friend Moling who asked a question here about why Google Street View shows less street dumping than appears in my photos. Am I homing-in on problems and giving an unrepresentative picture of our streets? That may be so. On this issue I may have a confirmation (or confirmatory) bias. In other words, I have a rough 'theory-in-use' which carries the danger of selecting evidence that confirms it. |
