Description Forming of the deck came to a halt with the arrival of the stainless steel rebar; the condition of the rebar was unacceptable. It arrived twisted, bent, with deformations twisted, and covered with contaminants (seen here). However, laboratory test results showed compliance with the strength and elongation requirements needed for the FHWA, Highways for LIFE project with Vtrans for innovative technology use as part of the durable stainless steel deck reinforcement―if the quality was corrected.
