Vorl\"aufer der Computer-Modern-Schriften waren die am-Schriften (entweder als
\textit{American Modern} oder sp\"ater als \textit{Almost Modern} gelesen), die von
Donald Knuth in \MF{} 78, dem Vorl\"aufer von \MF, implementiert wurden.
Von den Computer-Modern-Schriften gibt es verschiedene Weiterentwick\-lungen, einerseits
wurden neue Schriftschnitte aus den Quellen abgeleitet, andererseits wurde der
Zeichenvorrat stark erweitert.
