a long cone (about fifteen inches) toconverge the rays from the light in front of the lamp, andarranged so that no stray light can be emitted from the body ofthe lamp, and must be capable, by means of a shutter, of beinginstantly flashed on or off. The effect on birds is wonderful.They sit for a moment in bewilderment. We have yet to learnwhether this way of shooting birds can be classed as sport.Wildfowl and waders can be located by their calls on dark nights. We might stray from our subject and discuss the manythings which are of use in the wildfowlers hut ashore or cabinafloat. Most of the things used, however, are of commondaily experience, but let us remind shooters that these things,which are of most service, are easily forgotten, yet of much in-convenience if one is compelled to do without them. In thehut, all chairs, tables, beds, etc., should be made to fold upand take up little room when not in actual use. Pictures,mirrors, and such-like things are of no service, are at most

We cannotgo further in detailing the wildfowlers furniture, though wefeel sure some hints on its construction would prove of interest.The subject is one, however, essentially on camping-out; sowe must pass it over with the advice that comfort lies inhaving all that will be of utility and nothing more. Otherand superfluous articles are only in ones way, and their pre-sence, to say the least, is obnoxious. A reliable thermometerto record temperatures, and an alarum clock should be in-cluded in the hut or cabin outfit. Appended we give a list of the punt-shooters ordinary out-fit. The list is one of a double punt and all gear. The objectof such a list is for reference, and in order to show how an in-ventory of the gear should be kept, so that when an article isbroken or lost, the list can be checked over and markedaccordingly until the broken gear is repaired.
