Title

Description
English: Complete cast copper alloy S-shaped belt hook fitting of sixteenth or seventeenth century date (AD 1500 - AD 1700). Length 36mm, width 16mm and 3.8mm thick. Weight 7.49g.

The identical terminals are in the form of a swan’s head. The central part of the fitting, the shared gorged neck of the two heads, has moulded decoration. One end of the fitting has a free running copper alloy suspension ring which has an outer diameter of 10.5mm and an internal diameter of 6.5mm. The ring is circular in cross-section, 2m in diameter. The metal is a reddish colour and appears to be in a stable condition.
