Title
Complete cast copper-alloy rectangular buckle
Description
English: Complete tinned or silver-washed cast copper alloy buckle dating from the post-medieval period, i.e. c. AD1500-1800. The buckle is complete; both frame and pin remain intact and in very good condition. The buckle is rectangular in shape with the frame having a flat D-shaped cross-section. The surface is undecorated, but the buckle was probably silver-washed or, more probably, tinned. It may have been a hat buckle as it is fairly small and not curved.
