Summary
[edit]DescriptionCommon gain - geograph.org.uk - 423279.jpg |
English: Common gain This green was the line of Beechwood Avenue across Hearsall Common before the changes to the road layout with the development of the Coventry Business Park on the Standard-Triumph site allowed it to be absorbed into the common. Beechwood Avenue can be seen in the centre distance, rising up from the T-junction with Canley Road to cross the railway bridge.
Together with Whitley Common, Barras Heath and Radford Common, Hearsall was one of the last remaining areas of common or wastes within the city boundary until the Coventry Corporation Act of 1927 extinguished the commoning rights and transformed them into public open spaces. |
